This is the 17th annual Great Western and the eighth year at a half marathon distance. The race previously was a 30K, but was changed in 2005 to its current distance. The race is hosted by the Fox River Trail Runners, and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Special Olympics, Illinois and FRTR’s Youth Scholarship Fund.
Start Time (Half Marathon and 5K): 6:30 am
Start Line: Grant Park, Columbus Dr. and Monroe
Finish Line: Grant Park, Columbus Dr. and Congress

5:00 – 6:30 am: Race Day Packet pick up
6:00 am Sharp: Volunteer Check-In at registration desk unless told otherwise
7:00 am: Race Start
8:15 am: Post Race Party Begins
9:30 am: Award Ceremony
10:00 am: Course Close
10:00 am – Noon.: Post Party and Awards
